Dental Crown and Bridge Services
Dental crowns and bridges are more permanent solutions to damaged or missing teeth. They are bonded to your own teeth or to implants in order to improve the look, alignment, or strength of your teeth. The dentists at Lifetime Dental can work with you to develop a custom treatment plan and perform dental crown and bridge services to restore your smile and your confidence!
Dental Crown Treatment
A dental crown, or “cap,” is used in a number of different dental procedures, such as replacing large fillings; protecting and restoring a weak or fractured tooth; covering a dental implant, discolored tooth, or poorly shaped tooth; or attaching a bridge. The dental crown procedure begins with reshaping the existing tooth so that the dental crown will fit over it. Then, your dentist will take a dental impression of your teeth and send that off to the dental lab to have the crown made. The dental crown may be made of gold alloys, other metals, acrylic, ceramic, or porcelain, depending on your preferences and your dental needs. Finally, the crown is affixed to the pre-shaped tooth with dental cement.
Dental Bridge Procedure
A dental bridge is used to conceal and replace a missing tooth. If you require a dental bridge procedure, you can expect your dentist to reshape the teeth on either side of the gap and take a dental impression. Again, the dentist will send this impression to a lab to have the bridge made. Once it is complete, your dentist will cement it to the reshaped teeth on either side of the gap, creating the appearance of well-shaped teeth.
Dental crowns and bridges improve the appearance and function of your teeth, and they can last a very long time if they are properly cared for. If you have questions about or are in need of dental crown and bridge services, find a Lifetime Dental location near you or contact us online!
